The comments copied below were posted in today's Boston Globe, (somewhat edited and extended here), in response to Globe staff writer Scot Lehigh, a rather nondescript 'liberal centrist', whose most recent column casts aspersions, even ridicule, on the concept of Medicare for All. My comments: Many of us do not really fully understand the magnitude to which the Health Care Syndicate is a cash cow that dwarfs all others. Even the mega-lucrative Military Industrial Syndicate is less than 1/4th the size of the Health Care Syndicate. The Health Care Syndicate funnels in $3.5 TRILLION a year. If we look at every other developed country, (not “some”, as ole ‘IGotMine’ Mr. Lehigh tells us), EVERY single other developed country has socialized health care. We can also see that they have markedly better health care outcomes, at about (on average) HALF (HALF!) the cost per citizen. But it’s really a moral question even before a financial no-brainer. A decent respect for the opinions of Humankind requires that we recognize that using our human infirmities as a means to transfer obscene amounts of wealth to the very people who are already the Super Wealthy Elites, is such a moral travesty that it should be a crime. But we’ve become conditioned to it. (Surely we all know the 'Fable of the Boiling Frog’? Use Google if you don’t). It’s time to call a spade a spade. The people now running the Health Care Syndicate are morally depraved ghouls whose profits increase when more people get sicker. The SAME people, the same Super Wealthy Elites, reap obscene profits from warfare. Every time a bullet is fired, a new bullet must be purchased. The more carnage, (from the Latin ‘carne’, which I believe means ‘meat’), the higher the profits. These Super Wealthy Elites are always “diversified”. They put their money where it can make the most profit. They always invest in a broad range of industries. They obviously have an immense degree of shared incentive to cooperate among themselves in some ways to keep the whole ‘machine’ running, and the greatest amount of cash coming in for themselves. Hey….Even the Five Families came to realize that it was better for everybody, because it was better for each, if they cooperated. You gotta give something. But you get something in return. You relinquish claim to territory you may have been able to capture, but in return you secure complete autonomy over a defined territory. These are the foundational terms of a “Basic Social Contract”. So….These people clearly have the incentive to “syndicate”. (Look it up, good citizen Mr. Lehigh). Do any of us, besides ole ‘IGotMine’, think these Elites do not function on a level of cooperation that comprises a classic “syndicate”? Only….only…..we’re talkin’ max level here….These Elites do not merely comprise ‘a’ syndicate. They comprise THE Syndicate. THE Syndicate has already clearly surpassed government in power. They have effective control over ALL our mass media, and following from that, they have effective control over what people know and don’t know, and thus over what people ‘believe’. Well…..Gee….If you have effective functional control over what people know, don’t know, and thus over what they believe, how hard can it then be to manipulate the ‘democratic’ political process? The Syndicate of the Elites already has effective control over our government, which we can ALL see.... right before our very eyes ...... right out in broad daylight ..... has been fully corrupted into a foul stinking cesspool of legalized bribery. Anyone who can see past their nose can see that our government has been in this foul stinking cesspool condition for decades, not merely for the two plus years of the Big Orange Regime. Right now the 'five family' style 'basic contract', the 'peace' agreement that comprises the Elites' syndication , has been disrupted. Trump is leading a rogue faction that wants to take The Syndicate in a different direction. He's getting nowhere....The Syndicate raked in their trillion dollar plus tax cut...and they have Swamp Creature Pelsosi as their 'girl' riding herd over the Democrats. The Elites are cashing in so well on Trump's compliable buffoonery, while able to prevent him from doing too much damage, that they will likely choose to keep Trump in the White House if a suitable boot-licker (aka: "centrist") Democrat does not emerge from this pack of ego-bursting dancing clowns. The Health Care Syndicate is an IMMENSELY powerful faction within THE Syndicate. $3.5 TRILLION a year worth of raw power. This is a ‘Hunk ‘a the Action’ that is over four times the size of the Military Industrial Complex. And ole Bernie and Liz, or young soldier Congresswoman Gabbard, think they’re just gonna’ waltz in the front door of the White House, and those nice folks from The Syndicate jes’ gonna get on out d’ way? And we’ll pass some good laws, and everybody then gets some candy? C’mon, folks…..Surely we are not such simpletons that we think that’s how it works….. The Progressive Platform is fatally flawed in more than one way. Mr. Lehigh is correct to point out one fatal flaw….The Progressive Platform, heavily rooted as it is in party-line Political Correctness, and in its starkly bigoted, and even racist, Identity Politics, is just never gonna ‘fly’. It's an ugly and cultish ideology. If one is not a 'true believer', one is first demonized, and then ostracized ......(In other words, it's primitive "divide and rule" mob mentality 'tribalism' run completely bat-shick crazy amok.....and if you're a black-Hispanic-mix, or other broad ethnic mix LGBTQ female....(preferably transgender, to stimulate maximum possible reactionism from the 'enemy tribe'), you then hold the highest rank....) .... All these Progressive Platform candidates go around like they’re tossing out candy…."Step right up, folks….Get yer Green New Deal right here…. Get yer Medicare fer All….. Getcher Economic Justice…Right here, folks….Bring a dolla…bring a dime….we got it all…Step right up..." Mr. Lehigh is right, after all…All these ‘progressives’ are going around tellin’ us WHAT they’re ‘a gonna do….But NONE ‘a them is tellin’ us HOW they’re gonna take power from that Big Ugly Dragon in the room, (The Syndicate). The Progressive Platform is also fatally flawed ideologically by the directly clashing contradiction inherent in its heavily implied support for Open Borders Immigration Policy. The Progressive Platform also pretends to represent the interests of working people, of the common people. Well....uhhh...Until we repeal the laws of nature, (of which ‘supply and demand’ is corollary), massive immigration is very bad for working people. When excess labor rises, life becomes a “race to the bottom”. As competition becomes more intense, conditions of life become much worse for large numbers. When populism is allowed to rise on the Right, it only points directly to the abject failure of the Left. At this moment in History, a credible American Left, representing the interests of ALL the nation's Common Citizens, just does not even exist at all. What we do have is actually 'less than zero', since this fatally flawed pseudo-Left stands squarely in the way of building a genuine Left.....a Left that represents the interests of ALL working people, of ANY ethnic/genetic heritage, not just 'people of color' workers, (and preferably those for whom English is a second language). THAT is the Left, (the one that does not yet even exist), that can, and will, WIN! This current Progressive Platform 'turkey' feels too much, to too many people, like an ethnically-based ‘race war’, like a party-line ‘revenge of the victims’…….And if you don't toe 'dat line, boy, if you gots' anything t' say that crosses up against the central Progressive Platform Party-line...Well.... we don't like yer kind much 'round these parts.... and we won't even listen to anything ya gots t' say..........You better jes' git on out the back, and don't come 'round here no more...... This insanely bigoted Progressive Platform turkey may get off the ground for a hunert’ yards r’ so….but it ain’t never gonna take off and soar…… These people better start making some sense if they expect to 'take wing' in '20. C'mon, folks....We have ALL the talent we need, PLENTY enough, to soar the skies.....What we don't have is a credible plan, or even one that makes much of any sense at all, even to folks that are trying to be leftists/progressives themselves.... Always its own worst enemy, the American 'Left' we have now has defined itself to be so intentionally 'exclusive', excluding anyone who will not loyally and faithfully 'toe the PC party-line', that even regular folks who favor progressive policies feel disgust toward this monolithic obelisk of PC Identity Politics, toward this howling mob Progressive 'Left'. And those folks say "no thanks" when offered a cup 'a the party-line 'kewl-aid'. But ole Bernie's a proud "Socialist"....(gasp!)....and he says so out loud!....Man, we're really gettin' somewhere now!...But the majority of the American working class, (which the 'Left' has demonized as a bunch of no-good right-wing Nazis), remain disgusted.......And the always self-congratulatory Left pretends it can prevail with all these working people hating them....sigh.....Here we are, arrived at a crucial cusp of History, and the American Left is a comical parody of itself.......
