MOST AMERICANS ARE IGNORANT OF AMERICAN SLAVE HISTORY: DUMB MYTHS AND SMART FACTS ABOUT SLAVERY DUMB MYTH: Slavery is a bad thing that happened to Black people in America before the Civil War. SMART FACT: Black slavery in America was pretty bad, but it wasn't anything special. Throughout history, every color of the rainbow has owned slaves and been enslaved. The dictionary tells us that the root word of "slave" is "Slav," because Slavic peoples—who are REALLY pale and white—were the primary slave population throughout the Middle Ages. And though your teachers will never tell you this, there have been long stretches of history where AFRICANS have owned WHITE people as slaves! How do you like THEM apples? The empire of Carthage transported WHITE slaves to Africa. The African Moors ruled Spain for 500 years and sent WHITE Christian slaves to Egypt. And poor, defenseless WHITE kids were kidnapped by Muslims during the Children's Crusade and sold into Egyptian slavery. DUMB MYTH: White European Christians were solely responsible for the African Slave Trade. SMART FACT: THE BLACKS, ARABS AND JEWS WERE INVOLVED, TOO. • BLACKS: The president of an African country called Benin recently apologized to American blacks for his country's role in the slave trade. Slavery was common throughout Africa, with entire tribes becoming enslaved after losing battles. Tribal chieftains often sold their defeated foes to white slave-traders. In the late 1700s, a freed black American slave named Ottobah Cugoano wrote, "I was first kidnapped and betrayed by my own complexion, who were the first cause of my exile and slavery." • ARABS: The word "Abed" means "slave" in Arabic. It also means "black." The "Holy Land" of the Middle East has hosted far more African slaves than North America ever did. MUHAMMAD OWNED & SOLD BLACK SLAVES Muhammad owned several black slaves. Muslim scholar Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya relies heavily on the prophet's biographies written by great early Islamic scholars. He is regarded by Muslims as an authority, a primary source and a leader amongst Islamic scholars. He tells us in his book, "Zad al-Ma'ad" (part 1, pp. 114-116), the following: "These are the names of Muhammad's male slaves: Yakan Abu Sharh, Aflah, 'Ubayd, Dhakwan, Tahman, Mirwan, Hunayn, Sanad, Fadala Yamamin, Anjasha al-Hadi, Mad'am, Karkara, Abu Rafi', Thawban, Ab Kabsha, Salih, Rabah, Yara Nubyan, Fadila, Waqid, Mabur, Abu Waqid, Kasam, Abu' Ayb, Abu Muwayhiba, Zayd Ibn Haritha, and also a black slave called Mahran." • JEWS: The oldest synagogue in America was built by Aaron Lopez, a Jewish slave trader. Jewish writers such as Cecil Roth, Wilfred Samuels, Seymour B. Liebman, and Moshe Kahan acknowledge that Jews were involved in all levels of the African slave trade. The traditional daily reminder of slavery and the supposed fact that thousands of years ago Jews were held in bondage is all the more peculiar when one tries to imagine what thoughts went through the minds of the many Jewish slave traders throughout history, merchants who were instrumental even in the slave trading of Europeans. These are the words of James Parkes, a respected philosemitic scholar, extremely sympathetic to Jews in his many volumes about their history: "In the period from the fifth to eight centuries [Jews] gradually took the place previously occupied by the Syrians as 'international' traders; and they continued, and perhaps, developed, the trade in slaves." [PARKES, p. 17] "While the Jews were... never... the only traders, it is possible that the slave trade through north-eastern Europe to the Slav countries and the land trades to the East were for practical purposes Jewish monopolies. " [PARKES, p. 25] "It would appear that Jews had little difficulty in obtaining slaves in the eastern provinces of the empire and Poland, in spite of the protection which acceptance of Christianity in those regions should have given the inhabitants. References to this traffic in Christian slaves are not infrequent”. [PARKES, p. 45] "The evidence is thus enough to show that the Church possessed a genuine grievance against the section of the Jewish population involved in the slave trade. But the misdeeds of slave traders did not cease at the purchase of Christians in Eastern Europe. Agobard quotes cases -- and there is no reason to refute his evidence -- of the theft of children in France for sale to the Moors of Spain; and a chronicler of the middle of the tenth century brings an even more unpleasant story of the castration of boys in eastern France for their sale as eunuchs to the Moorish harems, a trade which was, apparently, extremely profitable." [PARKES, p. 46] In fact, WHITE Christians were the first group to make a concerted effort to ABOLISH slavery. DUMB MYTH: America’s an uniquely evil place because it imported all those slaves from Africa. SMART FACT: Of the 10 to 15 million Africans who were transplanted to the New World, no more than 6 % — around 400,000 — went to the Northern Hemisphere. Almost all of them went to South America, but you don't see your teachers giving Brazil a hard time, do you? DUMB MYTH: Most Whites owned Black Slaves, so every White person shares guilt for American Slavery. SMART FACT: Blacks were never close to a majority in America, so it's mathematically impossible for most WHITES to have owned BLACK SLAVES. At the peak of Black slavery in the South, only 6% of Southern WHITES owned slaves. If you include the WHITE people in the North, it means that only 1.4% of WHITE Americans owned BLACK SLAVES at the HEIGHT of slavery. Jews were 200% more likely to own Black Slaves than Whites. Jews were primary Black Slave owners in America. DUMB MYTH: Blacks never owned slaves in America. SMART FACT: An estimated 3,000 BLACKS owned a total of 20,000 BLACK SLAVES in the year 1860. One study concluded that 28% of free BLACKS owned slaves, which is a far higher percentage than that of free WHITES who owned slaves. DUMB MYTH: There were no White Slaves in America. SMART FACT: Although your textbooks are silent about it, most historians agree that two-thirds of ALL WHITES came to the colonies in some form of bondage. Legal papers on both sides of the ocean referred to them as "slaves." WHITE SLAVES outnumbered BLACK SLAVES in America throughout the 1600s. DUMB MYTH: White “indentured Servants” chose to come to America and weren't treated as badly as Black Slaves. SMART FACT: Hundreds of thousands of WHITE SLAVES were kidnapped and brought to America; their middle-passage death rates were comparable to those of BLACK SLAVES; they were sold at auction and traded for livestock, they were routinely beaten—sometimes to death—and an estimated one half of them died before gaining freedom. It's possible that more WHITES came to America against their will than BLACKS. Historians from both ends of the political spectrum say that WHITE SLAVES were treated worse than BLACK SLAVES. DUMB MYTH: England only sent convict laborers to Australia. SMART FACT: England only started sending convicts to Australia in 1776— when the American Revolution made it impossible for them to continue sending their convicts here. By 1776, more than 50,000 convict slave laborers had already been sent to America. That's a lot of criminals! DUMB MYTH: Picking cotton is the worst job possible. SMART FACT: According to statistics, farm work is relatively safe. It is far more dangerous to be a lumberjack, Alaskan crab fisherman, coal miner, or cabdriver. Either way, WHITE SLAVES were forced to pick cotton under the hot sun, too, which is where they got those RED NECKS. DUMB MYTH: White people need to pay financial reparations to Black people. SMART FACT: American BLACKS enjoy the highest standard of living of any BLACK population on earth. Their average per capita income is TWENTY to FIFTY times higher than in any of the African countries from where they were displaced. It's true that part of America's wealth was built on BLACK SLAVERY; it is also true that American BLACKS are enjoying the fruits of that wealth. Children, whether you were born BLACK OR WHITE, you weren't born in debt to anyone. You were born free. Don't let the bad, EVIL people take it away from you. DUMB MYTH: The Civil War was fought to end slavery. SMART FACT: When General Robert E. Lee surrendered to Ulysses S. Grant, it had been nearly 20 years since Lee owned slaves — he freed his slaves in the late 1840s. In 1856, five years before the Civil War started, he wrote that slavery was "a moral and political evil." On the other hand, General Grant STILL owned slaves at the end of the Civil War, because Abe Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation cleverly outlawed slavery only in the South. Grant had stated that he would refuse to fight if he thought the war had anything to do with slavery. And even if it WAS fought to end slavery, how often do you see the descendants of slaves thanking the 600,000 or so WHITE SOLDIERS who died in the fight to free them? DUMB MYTH: Slavery ended with the Civil War. SMART FACT: The US government estimates that 50,000 human beings are brought into this country every year for the purpose of forced labor. Various agencies estimate that there are anywhere from 27 to 200 million humans currently enslaved worldwide. (Compare this to only four and a half million slaves at American slavery's peak.) Most of these slaves live in South Asia, Africa, and South America. Their labor comes far cheaper and is much more profitable than BLACK AMERICAN SLAVERY was. In many horrifying cases, poverty-stricken women sell their vaginas on the black market and become lifelong sex slaves to fat, stinky men for as little as $1,500. IBN SINA, AVICENNA 980–1037 Muslim Arab’s most famous and influential philosopher/scientist in Islam, described BLACKS as: “All African women are prostitutes, and the whole race of African men, are abed (slave) stock.” He equated black people with “RATS plaguing the earth.” LIKE RATS PLAGUING THE EARTH! “Blacks are characterized by levity and excitability and great emotionalism,” “they are everywhere described as STUPID.” al-Dimashqi, an Arab pseudo scientist, wrote: “the Equator is inhabited by communities of BLACKS who may be numbered among the SAVAGE BEASTS. Their complexion and hair are burnt and they are PHYSICALLY & MORALLY ABNORMAL. Their brains almost boil from the sun’s heat…..” Ibn al-Faqih al-Hamadhani painted this no less horrid picture of black people: “…..the zanj (the blacks) are overdone until they are burnt, so that the child comes out between black, murky, malodorous, stinking, and crinkly-haired, with uneven limbs, DEFICIENT MINDS AND DEPRAVED PASSIONS…..” “As they filed past, we noticed many chained together by the neck... The women, who were as numerous as the men, carried babies on their backs in addition to a tusk of ivory or other burden on their heads... Detectives smash massive ring trafficking in women
By Haaretz Staff POLICE have arrested 40 suspected members of a Russian-Israeli prostitute smuggling ring in the last few days. The gang is believed to have brought hundreds of women into Israel in the past decade. The suspects allegedly took advantage of a lack of coordination between government offices and brought the women in under the Law of Return, establishing bogus family ties and claiming grants from the Absorption Ministry. Among the 40 is the alleged head of the organization, Genady Bosolovich, an Israeli resident. Police seized bank accounts, luxury cars, and cash valued at several million shekels. The investigation began several few months ago, starting with information the police interrogation division gathered about an international ring smuggling women to Israel as new immigrants. "We discovered a well-oiled forgery machine that created fictitious individuals and families, and a system that took advantage of the fact that Israel welcomes new immigrants," said Jerusalem District Police commander Major General Ilan Franko. Police believe members of the crime ring approached women in difficult circumstances in Russia and the Ukraine and offered work in Israel as strippers or prostitutes. They persuaded the women to establish fictitious Jewish families in their home country. Chief Superintendent Yoram Halevy, commander of the Jerusalem police central unit, said the gang would then forge immigration documents for the women and a fictitious husband and they would adopt the identity of a real Jewish couple. The couple would learn the biography of the real couple to pass the Israeli embassy's examination of every potential immigrant. In some cases the smugglers created entire multi-generation families requesting immigration documents so as to increase the immigration allowances. Sometimes the prostitute would team up with a real Jewish man and present them as a couple -- even to producing a bogus wedding video. "When the `family' arrived in Israel, they would break up right away," Halevy said." The man faded from the picture or sometimes was sent back with the children to Russia or Ukraine to bring in more women." He said the gang took advantage of "a lack of coordination between Israeli embassies and government offices, each of which closes off only its own role, leaving other authorities wide open." The women allegedly signed contracts for 2-4 years, requiring them to work at brothels and pay the gang $36,000, as well as depositing the absorption allowances they received into the ring's bank account. ************************************************************
ULTRA ORTHODOX JEWS RUNNING DRUG EMPIRE
By Deborah Camiel JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Ultra-Orthodox Jews served as couriers for a major international drugs ring that operated in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Israel and the United States, Israeli police said Tuesday. The syndicate, led by two Israelis living in Europe, was one of the world's largest producers of the synthetic drug ecstasy, police said. Updating arrest figures announced by Dutch police Monday after dawn raids on the ring's drug laboratories in the Netherlands, Israeli police said at a news conference that 41 suspects had been detained overseas and another eight in Israel. "The couriers were young Americans and Israelis, most of them ultra-Orthodox Jews," an Israeli police spokesman said. He declined to say whether they wore traditional black garb on their smuggling runs. About one million ecstasy tablets were seized by police in Israel and abroad, the spokesman said. Twenty-four Israelis, most of them living overseas, were among those arrested. Two Israelis, one residing in the Netherlands and the other in Belgium, were the masterminds behind the operation, and an ultra-Orthodox man recruited young religious Jews to smuggle the drugs. All three are in custody, Israeli police said. Dutch police said Monday's raids on 35 addresses in the Netherlands and the Belgium city of Antwerp marked the culmination of a three-year investigation. Along with laboratory equipment used in making synthetic drugs, five kilograms (11 lbs) of Semtex high explosive as well as weapons, cars and money were also recovered, a Dutch police spokeswoman said. Israeli police said an Israeli undercover agent had been key to busting the ring. The agent, who appeared at the Jerusalem news conference disguised with a wig and false mustache, managed to buy 60,000 ecstasy tablets from the main suspect in the investigation during 10 months of undercover work in the Netherlands, police said. ******************************************************************8 REPORT SLAMS ISRAEL ON SEX SLAVERY Associated Press Jerusalem - About 3,000 women, mainly from the former Soviet Union, are sold each year into Israel's sex industry, which takes in about $1-billion (U.S.) annually, a parliamentary report said Sunday, slamming the country's justice system for being lax on punishments. The women, seeking to escape poverty at home, are usually smuggled in by traffickers who promise them legitimate jobs. Once in Israel, they are sold to pimps for between $3,000 and $6,000 each, the preliminary report said. The women receive between $25-$30 per customer, of which the pimp takes between 80 and 90 per cent, the report said. The women work about 12 hours a day, six or seven days a week and receive an average of 10 to 15 clients daily, it added. Often, the women live in dismal conditions and sometimes they are physically abused or live in fear of their pimps. Israeli courts generally reach a plea bargain with the pimps and sentence them to either a few months of community service or up to an average of two years in prison, punishments which the committee said are too weak to serve as deterrents. It suggested that these crimes should have minimum prison sentences to deter the sex traders, who often jail, blackmail and enslave the women. In July of 2001, a U.S. State Department report placed Israel on a black list of countries whose laws don't meet U.S. criteria for dealing with this crime and threatened economic sanctions. Israel has reformed the law somewhat since then, but the committee said it is not enough to confront the problem effectively. In addition to changes in the law, the committee suggested an authority be formed to fight the "war against trafficking in people." ****************************************** LUDWIG FAINBERG: WHITE SLAVE TRAFFICER Here's the sketch of of Ludwig Fainberg's criminal career as drawn in Malarek's study of the international sex trade, The Natashas (Viking Canada: Toronto, 2003, pp. 51 - 57): I WANTED TO FIND OUT just how difficult it is to purchase young Slavic women for the sex trade. It is, as I discovered, really quite easy. All that's needed is a connection and cold hard cash. The meeting took place in an apartment in Ottawa, Canada's capital city, on a brisk, snowy night in early January 2003. I was a bit nervous. The man I was to meet was no ordinary low-level thug. Ludwig Fainberg is a notorious Israeli mobster with a hair-trigger temper and a penchant for extreme violence. According to FBI documents, he was the middleman for an international drugs and weapons smuggling conspiracy linking Colombian drug lords with the Russian Mafia in Miami. Fainberg's claim to fame was that in the mid-1990s, he ventured onto a high-security naval base in the far northern reaches of Russia. Fainberg His mission was to negotiate the purchase of a Russian Cold War-era diesel submarine -- complete with a retired naval captain and a twenty-five-man crew -- for the Columbian cocaine cartel. The price tag: a cool $5.5 million. The vessel was to be used to smuggle tons of white powder along the California coast. The deal fell through. From 1990 until he was arrested and charged in Miami in February 1997 for smuggling and racketeering, Fainberg ran an infamous strip club called Porky's. The pink neon club on the fringe of Miami International Airport was a magnet for Russian hoods and sleazy East European émigrés with misbegotten fortunes and visions of untapped criminal proceeds. Fainberg's rise through ROC [Russian organized crime] ranks is the stuff of Hollywood B-movies. He was born in Odessa, Ukraine, in 1958. When he was thirteen he and his parents immigrated to Israel. Later, he tried out for the Israeli Marines, wanting to become a Navy Seal. He flunked basic training. Then he wanted to become an officer in the Israeli Army but failed the exam. His over-inflated ego bruised, he decided to try his luck elsewhere. In 1980 he packed a suitcase and headed for Berlin, where he earned his stripes as a street-level goon in extortion and credit card fraud. Four years later he set out for the United States -- a land he fondly refers to as "the Wild West because it is so easy to steal there!" He settled in the Brighton Beach area of Brooklyn, which had become the seat of the Organizatsiya, as the Russian mob is often called. There he linked up with the mob and specialized in arson -- torching businesses competing with those that were Russian owned. 1990 he moved to Miami to run Porky's. Nine years later he was convicted on racketeering charges and sentenced to thirty-seven months in prison. Since he had already spent thirty months in jail awaiting trial, Fainberg was deported to Israel. The next year he turned up in Canada with dreams of making it rich in the flesh trade. Not long after his arrival he married a Canadian and moved into a comfortable apartment along the Ottawa River with his new bride and his ten-year-old daughter from a previous marriage. I entered the well-appointed two-bedroom flat and Fainberg stared hard into my face as we shook hands. He's a burly man with a thin goatee and short-cropped hair, and he was clearly sizing me up. I must have passed. He gripped my hand firmly and escorted me to the living room, which was outfitted with the latest gizmos in video and audio entertainment. I sank down into a soft, black kid-leather couch while he retreated to the kitchen to get a couple of imported beers. Fainberg "You can call me Tarzan," he began as he burst back into the room. With a proud boyish grin, he tossed me one of his business cards. The cover of the custom-made two-fold card sported the caricature of a mop-topped muscular man under the name of Porky's. The inside featured a cartoon of an ample nude woman bending over in knee-high stiletto-heeled boots. Underneath was his name -- "Tarzan Da Boss" -- and on the opposite side "Welcome to Planet Sex, Land of Fantasy." According to Fainberg, he was nicknamed Tarzan because he once sported a wild mane of hair and acted as though he was straight out of a jungle. These days, for travel and immigration purposes, he's known as Alon Bar. The former strip-club owner legally changed his name during his last pit stop in Israel. The man is a consummate braggart. For the better part of the evening he crowed about his illicit escapades and nefarious underworld connections and boasted that his life would make a spectacular Hollywood movie. He even talked about penning his memoirs. "It would be number one on the New York Times bestseller list." But there's one aspect of his life he probably wouldn't want revealed in any book. Fainberg relishes putting women in their place. In one violent incident in Miami, undercover agents with the FBI and U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency watched from a safe distance as he chased a stripper out of Porky's and slammed her head repeatedly against the door of his Mercedes until the car was covered in blood. In another episode, he beat a dancer in the parking lot outside the club and then made her eat gravel. Clearly, he was no gentleman, and every woman in his club knew it. Incredibly, he attributes this mean streak to his upbringing: "In Russia, it's quite normal for men to slap women. It is cultural. It is part of life." Fainberg prefers to see himself as an astute businessman, and if there's a business he firmly grasps, it's the flesh trade. "It can make you a millionaire in no time," he said, winking. His Canadian dream was to open a strip club in Gatineau, Quebec. The club, across the bridge from the nation's capital, would feature imported talent -- Russian and Ukrainian strippers and lap dancers. When I met with him he was shopping for a Canadian partner and trolling for an infusion of cash. I asked Tarzan what he would bring to the deal. He recited his know-how and his unique expertise in importing entertainment. After an hour I shifted the conversation to the issue at hand: buying women. With an earnest, businesslike expression, Fainberg said flat-out that it was an easy feat -- he could bring women in from Russia, Ukraine, Romania or the Czech Republic. "No problem. The price is $10,000 with the girl landed. It is simple. It is easy to get access to the girls. It's a phone call. I know the brokers in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Kyiv. I can call Moscow tomorrow and show you how easy it is. I can get ten to fifteen to twenty girls shipped to me in a week." Clearly, he had done this many times before. "They know exactly what they're being hired to do?" I asked. "They're not being forced." "They know why they are coming and what they are going to do. They will not be any trouble," he assured me. Guardedly I mentioned that while surfing the internet, I had tripped on FBI and U.S. State Department documents that said he "likely trafficked in women." That got his attention. As he shifted to the edge of his seat, Fainberg's eyes flashed in indignation. "That is bullshit. I never trafficked in women. I don't need trafficked women. Agents in Russia are overwhelmed with women who want to do this voluntarily. If you look at their living conditions in Russia, there is no way of surviving. They live in poverty. At least this way, they can make a living. When people need to eat, what are you going to do?" "Given what you've just said, they're not really prostitutes," I interjected. FainbergFainberg paused for a moment, mulling over my words. Then with a laugh, he shot back: "My opinion is a prostitute is someone who is selling herself. From that point of view that is what they are. It is true they definitely do not want to do this. They are being pushed by their social level of their life. They're getting pushed by necessity. They're being pushed to survive. Then maybe they're not really prostitutes." He even held himself out as a Good Samaritan: "The girls come here and they send some money home and the family lives. If they don't come to work here or in Germany or England, their family suffers. I give the girls a chance to earn money. For me, it is a business transaction, plain and simple, but I am also helping these women out." "I've heard that a lot of these women have no idea they're going into prostitution when they accept these so-called job offers to work abroad," I countered. "In fact, I've read that a lot of them think they're going to be waitresses or hotel cleaning staff." Fainberg held his fire. I find that difficult to believe. I was present on many occasions when girls were being hired. Plus, at somepoint I had over twenty girls from Russia, Ukraine and Romania who came to work in the States. Maybe some of them don't know. But how stupid do you have to be that you are going to a different country to work as a waitress or dancer in a club? It is really stupidity. It's dumb. Women know what they are going for. Sometimes when they realize their mistakes or they're getting hurt, its easy to blame somebody else for being so dumb. I think they should only blame themselves for getting into that. He grudgingly conceded that some of these women are duped. "I think 10 percent don't know what they're getting into. Ninety percent know exactly what they're going to do. What they may not know exactly is the conditions or how much money they will get." "You don't have a problem with pushing women who are absolutely destitute into prostitution?" "Look, that's what they can offer. Life is a business. It's a trade. You want to give something for nothing? You can help once or twice. But then ten, twenty or forty times? For that you want to get something in return. Fainberg in handcuffs"What kind of money are we talking here?" I asked. "How much will it cost to bring a woman over, and what kind of profit can be made?" "If it is run the proper way, the clean way, you can have a good clientele and make a lot of money. You can buy a woman for $10,000 and you can make your money back in a week if she is pretty and she is young. Then everything else is profit." I asked about getting the women into Canada or the United States. "It is so simple, so very simple," he bragged. "You know after 9/11 how difficult it was supposed to be to get into the United States? I will show you right now how easily we can get into the United States and then come back, and nobody will ever know we were in there." He went on to hint that certain Russian mobsters have connections with Native gangs whose reserves straddle the Canada-U.S. border. A couple of days later, Canadian Immigration swooped in and arrested Fainberg in his comfortable Ottawa lair. He was labeled a threat to national security and public safety, and ordered deported to Israel. But in November 2003 Ludwig Fainberg, the Jewish slave trader from the Ukraine, is still at large in Canada. . .

THE DOGMA THAT THE BLACK IS A SLAVE BY NATURE IS RABBINIC IN ORIGIN Canaan is identified as a black man and blacks as in inferior people, only in the Gemara, which is to say the latter part of the Talmud, the Midrash and later writings of the rabbis. This invective, this racism, is not anywhere in the bible concerning the black race. The rabbinic account of the malediction against Ham stipulates that his son Canaan, and all Canaan’s offspring, are to fated to suffer perpetual slavery and black skin without the chance of their condition being ameliorated. It is this anti-Old Testament, Rabbinic gloss that influenced those fifteenth century Renaissance humanists who had crossed over into the forbidden territory of the Talmud, the Midrash and the Kabbalah as part of a supposedly enlightened act. It is an irony of history that as a result of this supposedly progressive development, the abominable view of blacks as a perpetual race of slaves became entrenched among the western liberal intelligentsia for at least the next three hundred years. JEWISH RACISM MOSES MAIMONIDES The Encyclopedia of the Jewish Religion refers to Moses Maimonides as "THE SYMBOL OF THE PURE AND ORTHODOX FAITH.” The book GUIDE TO THE PERPLEXED is considered the greatest work of Jewish religious philosophy, but his view of BLACKS was pure evil: "[T]he Negroes found in the remote South, and those who resemble them from among them that are with us in these climes. The status of those is like that of irrational ANIMALS. To my mind THEY DO NOT HAVE THE RANK OF MEN, but have among the beings a rank lower than the rank of man BUT HIGHER THAN THE RANK OF APES. For they have the external shape and lineaments of a man and a faculty of discernment that IS SUPERIOR TO THAT OF APES." “Those who are incapable of attaining to supreme religious values include the BLACK coloured people and those who resemble them in their climates. Their nature is like the MUTE ANIMALS. Their level among existing things is below that of a man and above that of a monkey.” (Maimonides, Guide To The Perplexed, Translation from the Hebrew Version) Here is what Schorsch writes in his book, JEWS and BLACKS in the EARLY MODERN WORLD: “Few Jewish thinkers understood Ham’s curse to initiate his or her progeny’s blackness.” That is an out and out prevarication. The classic rabbinic texts hold that the punishment visited upon Ham was the transformation of his son Canaan, and all Canaan’s progeny, into BLACKS. Rabbi Hiyya said, “Ham and the dog copulated on the ark. Therefore Ham came forth dark skinned.” Jonathan Schorsch is Professor at Columbia University and is the author of the book “Jews and Blacks in the Early Modern World.” The most notorious anti-black racist in Judaism happens to be Judaism’s most influential and revered sage, Moses Maimonides, who taught in his book “Guide of the Perplexed,” that blacks are subhuman. Schorsch has written 546 pages on the relationship of JEWS AND BLACKS. One would think he would be able to explicate Maimonides’ teaching about BLACK PEOPLE at length since it forms the heart of Judaism’s attitude towards Blacks. Since Maimonides is indefensible, Schorsch dares not. Hence, like any propagandist, the Columbia University Professor buries the inconvenient Maimonides in his footnotes where we find the offending statement quoted in small type with no comment or exegesis of any kind — as if it were the doctrine of some long ago forgotten village rabbi instead of the major Halakic authority in Judaism. Neither can he bring himself to quote the Talmudic and Midrashic accounts of the CURSE OF HAM which form the canonical Judaic understanding of BLACK PEOPLE. By shying away from a confrontation with these texts, he does little to dispel the critique of Tony Martin and others. Professor Tony Martin quotes these anti-black rabbinic teachings you are about to see. How can Schorsch claim to debunk the Martin’s of the world when he can’t even bring himself to confront the problem’s sacred Judaic texts? The Talmud’s creators, first of all, were lawyers. Let’s observe lawyer Schorsch in action. In his book on page 139 he says: “Seeing a Jewish curse of Ham behind every English notion of Black accursedness will not do. If one looks carefully, the explicit citation of Jewish authors remains extremely rare in early modern writings. Some of course did indeed cite Jewish authorities. Overall, the curse of Ham seems to comprise a case of intra-Christian discursive influence. The Jewish having the Bible being claimed as a Christian text already long before the mediaeval period, early modern Christian authorities continued to make use of it as a component of the Christian canon.” Well, nice try Professor. The fact is the Israelite Bible was misappropriated by the Rabbis, not the Christians. Furthermore, Schorsch misleads readers into thinking that it is the biblical teaching about Blacks that is the pivot of anti-Black racism in the West when he knows very well that the anti-Black rabbinic dogma is diametrically opposed to the Old Testament. Therefore, citing the Old Testament in a racial context as the curse of Ham’s “intra-Christian discursive influence” is nothing more than a lawyer’s trick with a fifty dollar phrase. The mendacious chutzpah represented here is truly audacious. Such a gambit can only be sustained before an audience that is almost totally ignorant of the relevant foundational rabbinic texts. The curse of Ham, as taught by the Rabbis, is what Avraham Melamed rightly terms, “the locus classicus” of Judaism’s historic antipathy toward Black people and the exegetical source of its racist teaching from the Amorim of Babylonia to Moses Maimonides. THE AFRICAN HOLOCAUST Jews played a significant role in the African holocaust. Much is recorded in history about the Jewish Holocaust by German Nazis, but very little is said about the major part JEWS played in the African Holocaust. The first major role and one of the most significant, was played by Rabbi Moshe ben Maimon, Talmudist, Halachist, physician, philosopher and communal leader, known in the Jewish world by the acronym “Rambam” and to the world at large as “Maimonides,”. He is one of the most important figures in the history of Torah scholarship and has a direct descendant of Moses through his father Maimon, that on his gravestone are inscribed the words, “From Moses to Moses, none arose as Moses.” The most notorious anti-Black racist in Judaism happens to be Judaism’s most influential and revered sage, Moses Maimonides, who taught in his book “Guide of the Perplexed,” that BLACKS WERE SUBHUMAN. Maimonides, in the twelfth-century, a Rabbi who is considered one of the greatest thinkers in medieval European thought, was one of THE MAIN ARCHITECTS OF RACISM, when through his mythological “curse of Ham” stated that Black people were “biologically inferior” and that Black Africans were “lower than the ranks of man but higher than the ranks of apes.” Maimonides’ Jewish tale signalled and marshalled the very beginnings of racism and white supremacy, creating much mischief and causing the shedding of much blood. It is shown to be the root justification of the slave trade and the displacement and murder of the American Indians; used also to attack the Civil Rights Movement, undermining abolitionism, to buttress the pro-slavery Confederacy, and an instrument of Jim Crow control. Rabbi Maimonides was considered “the symbol of the pure and orthodox faith,” and his writings are considered “the greatest work of Jewish religious philosophy.” His works later wielded great influence on the scholastic philosophers of the Middle Ages, and was extensively quoted by many of them, notably Albertus Magnus, Thomas Aquinas, Duns Scotus and Roger Bacon. Maimonides, who occupied a most prominent place in the annals of general theological philosophy created racism although he is considered a holy man. The Hamitic Myth is derived from the JEWISH Biblical story of Noah, taken alone as presented in Genesis 9:21-27, the characters are without a racial or geographical identity. It is the later interpretation of this race/religion/nation-neutral parable which assigned the curse specifically to the Black race such that by 1460 the institution of slavery would be universally believed to be the lot of the Africans. Former Trinidad-born professor of Africana Studies at Wellesley College, USA Dr. Tony Martin highlighted, “The curse of Ham, as taught by the Rabbis, is what Avraham Melamed rightly terms, “the locus classicus” of Judaism’s historic antipathy toward black people and the exegetical source of its racist teaching from the Amorism of Babylonia to Moses Maimonides. Beyond the Orthodox Judiasm of Maimonides there was also the similar racist approach taken by reform Judiasm. Reform Judaism was founded in America by Isaac Mayer Wise. Wise was a rabid, recalcitrant, racist rabbi who referred to Jesus as a “near lunatic,” and, like his predecessor Maimonides, considered Black people as subhuman. Rabbi Wise openly boasted that White Jews gave Christians a God and a religion. Rabbi Wise’s students were some of the most notable Jewish clerics in American history. Among them were Max Heller, Morris Newfield, Isidore Lewinski, Max Raisin, David Marx and Moses Jacobson, all of whom served in the south. KOSHER REBELS A troubling alliance developed between racist rabbis and members of the Confederacy. This alliance led to a symbiotic relationship between and among members of the southern slavocracy and the Jewish religious leadership. Rabbi James Gutheim, the New Orleans Rabbi and ideological student of Rabbi Wise, in 1862 encouraged Southern Jews to support the Confederacy, and prayed to God to bless the Confederate slaveholders. When desegregation of the New Orleans school system was proposed, Rabbi Gutheim came up with an alternative: he founded a Hebrew school in protest. Among the Jews and southern slave owners, it was an open secret that rabbis owned and rented slaves. Rabbi Morris Raphall of New York, the nation’s highest paid clergyman, defended slavery and like others of his coreligionists claimed that God had sanctioned it. Rabbi and historian Dr. Bertram W. Korn, an acknowledged expert on nineteenth-century American Jewry, was not shy in stating that: “Jews participated in every aspect and process of the exploitation of the defenseless Blacks.” Wise, Maimonides, Raphall and other Jewish rabbis used the Talmud to justify their concept of racial superiority over Black people. In the southern Jewish ethos Blacks were scapegoated and demonized so that Jews could develop without the impediment of racism. The rabbis played a crucial and strategic role of supplying “spiritual air cover” for racist Jewish and Gentile slave owners to justify their dehumanization of Black people in the institution of American slavery. History shows that Rabbis have benefited financially from the enormous profits gained from African enslavement. It was the Rabbis who invented the Curse of Ham Myth, which enabled and facilitated the enslavement of the Black man. Therefore, this conspiratorial relationship between the rabbis and their slave-dealing co-religionists benefited the entire Jewish nation in America and throughout the world. A part of this conspiratorial relationship included the deafening silence of those Jews who knew what was happening to the Black man was wrong but remained silent, especially since the question of what accounts for the entire absence of Jews from the abolition movement is yet to be answered. They were said to have participated in the Civil Rights Movement whenever their self-interests coincided with Black interests. More important, however, is Jewish control of the Civil Rights Movement through their control of the civil rights organizations.
Jews used their wealth, power, and influence as board members, board directors and presidents of Black organizations to steer these organizations in the direction they desired, not in the direction Black people wanted. With the documented historical past of hundreds of years of discrimination against Black Americans and African people, there is great reluctance to openly discuss these issues. BLACK SLAVERY RABBI MARC LEE RAPHAEL "Jews also took an active part in the Dutch colonial slave trade; indeed, the bylaws of the Recife and Mauricia congregations (1648) included an imposta (Jewish tax) of five soldos for each Negro slave a Brazilian Jew purchased from the West Indies Company. Slave auctions were postponed if they fell on a Jewish holiday. In Curacao in the seventeenth century, as well as in the British colonies of Barbados and Jamaica in the eighteenth century, Jewish merchants played a major role in the slave trade. In fact, in all the American colonies, whether French (Martinique), British, or Dutch, Jewish merchants frequently dominated. "This was no less true on the North American mainland, where during the eighteenth century Jews participated in the 'triangular trade' that brought slaves from Africa to the West Indies and there exchanged them for molasses, which in turn was taken to New England and converted into rum for sale in Africa. Isaac Da Costa of Charleston in the 1750's, David Franks of Philadelphia in the 1760's, and Aaron Lopez of Newport in the late 1760's and early 1770's dominated Jewish slave trading on the American continent." IRA ROSENWAIKE "In Charleston, Richmond and Savannah the large majority (over three-fourths) of the Jewish households contained one or more slaves; in Baltimore, only one out of three households were slaveholding; in New York, one out of eighteen....Among the slaveholding households the median number of slaves owned ranged from five in Savannah to one in New York." There were no protests against slavery as such by Jews in the South, where they were always outnumbered at least 100 to 1....But very few Jews anywhere in the United States protested against chattel slavery on moral grounds." Marcus describes the mockery of the Indian by Hyam Myer's "Wild West Show" in his book, The Colonial American Jew: "[Myer sought] formal permission to exhibit some Mohawks in Europe. Myers sailed with the Indians before the proper certificate was forthcoming from the Indian Commissioner, and had already begun to parade them in Holland and in the taverns of London when the Lords of Trade urged Lieutenant-Governor Cadwallader Colden in New York to have Johnson put an end to the undertaking. From all indications Myers made no money on his grand European tour, for he ended up owing the Indians money - or refusing to pay them. Then, as now, there was "no business like show business!" Isaac Mayer Wise, the leader of the American Reform Jews, wrote of the California Indians: "...though not total savages, [they] are very primitive and ignorant....[They do] nothing besides loafing and begging....They catch trout in the river, and then sell them to buy ammunition, shoot rabbits, birds, eat various roots and wild plants, also snakes, frogs, dogs, cats, and rats, and say, 'Me work no.' In conversation with several of them I found that they have no particular home and are heathens." JULIUS KAHN, SAN FRANCISCO JEW In turn-of-the-century San Francisco the 12-term Congressman Julius Kahn was a Jew who was affiliated with Temple Emanu El. He spoke vehemently against Japanese immigration and naturalization even as Jews pushed mightily for Eastern European immigration. The early 1900 saw passage of the Chinese Exclusion Acts which were enthusiastically supported by Kahn and his constituents. He was such an advocate that the Acts were called the Kahn Exclusion Acts. MAJOR MORDECAI MANUEL NOAH (1785-1851) He was considered the most distinguished Jewish layman in his time. He was such a prolific proponent of slavery, that the first Black American periodical, The Freedom's Journal, was launched in response to Noah's racist propaganda. He actually defended slavery by calling it liberty: "There is liberty under the name of slavery. A field negro has his cottage, his wife, and children, his easy task, his little patch of corn and potatoes, his garden and fruit, which are his revenue and property. The house servant has handsome clothing, his luxurious meals, his admitted privacy, a kind master, and an indulgent and frequently fond mistress." He argued that "the bonds of society must be kept as they now are" and that: "To emancipate the slaves would be to jeopardize the safety of the whole country." The Freedom's Journal called Noah the Black man's "bitterest enemy" and William Lloyd Garrison, the leading White abolitionist, called him the "lineal descendant of the monsters who nailed Jesus to the cross." |
